What does the tool do?
The Phase Diagrams tool interprets the equilibrium phase region and possible microstructure constituents from selected alloy system, temperature and composition. It is especially useful for reading austenite, ferrite, cementite, pearlite, ledeburite and two-phase regions in the Fe-C system.
Which inputs are critical?
Carbon content, temperature, alloy system, process history and cooling condition must be defined correctly. Near phase boundaries, small temperature or composition changes can alter the interpretation.
How is microstructure interpreted?
The equilibrium phase field gives only the thermodynamic basis of the real microstructure. Cooling rate, alloying elements, grain size, segregation and heat-treatment route are additional controlling factors.
Engineering limit
The tool is for education, preliminary design and rapid interpretation. Critical material decisions require validation by optical microscopy, SEM/EDS, XRD, hardness, chemical analysis and process records.
Step-by-step use

Enter the temperature; if available, specify target phase or process condition.
Check the diagram region, boundary lines and two-phase fields.
Read predicted phases together with microstructure interpretation; do not confuse equilibrium interpretation with real production conditions.
When exporting the result, include sample, operator/laboratory information and engineering limitations.
For critical decisions, verify the result on real samples with microstructure, hardness and chemical analysis.
